Rabbi Yehonatan’s Yarzheit Let’s Honor His Memory
"God cannot experience true joy when there are people who are struggling to put food on their table.
And when we alleviate their suffering this brings great joy to the Almighty"
~ Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeshitz (1690-1764) Yaarot Dvash 2,12
When a Tzaddik passes away, his Yarzheit is a day for introspection and compassion. We are called upon to perform a mitzvah honoring his memory.
With this in mind, we would like to remember the passing of one of the greatest Tzaddik's in Jewish history, Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeshitz by performing the charitable act of donating food to the needy.
We have teamed up with Cholel Chabad, an organization established in 1788 to feed the hungry in Israel, and are raising funds in memory of Reb Yehonatan's 257th Yahrzeit. The donations raised through this project will be used to feed the hungry at their 22 soup kitchen locations on the anniversary of Rabbi Yehonatan’s passing.
Colel Chabad has created a special web page for family and friends to help feed the needy in memory of Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeshitz. By clicking the link below you will be directed to a special page to make a contribution to feed the hungry in Israel.
Bonus
Anyone who makes a donation through the link above will receive a very special bonus. Colel Chabad will send all the names of the donors (no matter how big or small) to its emissaries at the Kotel. They will say a special blessing at the Western Wall in your honor on the Yarzheit day!
Join us by making a donation to put food on the table of the needy and thus "bring great joy to the Almighty"
Anyone and everyone who is interested in spirituality and Judaism should know Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeshitz.
They should be familiar with his thoughts and accomplishments. And yet, at this time, it is mostly the Jewish Orthodox community who is familiar with this great sage. One of the reasons for this may be due to the fact that his works are all in Hebrew and have not been translated into other languages.
A great Torah scholar, master Kabbalist, preacher, author, and more, Rabbi Yehonatan Eybeshitz was loved and highly esteemed during his time. People came from far to hear his sermons. He was respected by the local governmental authorities. Officials in the Church sought his advice. This was not an easy task for a Jew in Europe.
Known for his charisma, members of his congregation would become enraptured as they listened to his sermons for hours. Many of Rabbi Yehonotan’s students became very well-known rabbis in their own right.
By publishing Pearls of Wisdom and translating his words into English, Rabbi Eybeshitz’s wisdom will be made available to all who strive to broaden their minds.
Shalom

Reading this book is like being transported to Rabbi Eybeshitz’s Shul in Hamburg during the 1750s and listening to his captivating sermons.
